A rocket attack hit Camp Taji near Baghdad, Iraq resulting in three coalition members killed and others critically wounded according to the Department of Defense.
Among the dead are two American service members as well as one British soldier. The names of the personnel are withheld pending next of kin notification.
Approximately 12 additional personnel were also wounded during the attack.
A US defense official tells Connecting Vets that a large strike package is currently pending approval by the coalition which would involve the United States and coalition partners retaliating with airstrikes.
The Department of Defense reports that roughly 18 107mm Katyusha rockets struck the base. Iraqi Security Forces also reportedly found a rocket-rigged truck, a few miles from Camp Taji.
The rockets are believed to have been fired by Shia militia that act as a proxy force for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) which has bases in Syria and has been designated a foreign terrorist organization by the United States government.
