The veteran-owned and operated Nine Line brand started out in a house on Whitemarsh Island, Ga., just outside of Savannah.
On Monday, that home caught fire and burned to the ground.
Nine Line outgrew the house years ago and an employee was renting it out to a family at the time of the fire.
“Nine Line Apparel is very sad to report that the home where our great company got its start was destroyed in a fire this past weekend,” said Nine Line spokeswoman Amanda Herring. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of this home and the loss of all of the belongings of the tenants.”
Nine Line’s location headquarters in Savannah is an official collection point to help the displaced family, Herring said.
“We are asking for gift cards and monetary donations,” she said. “We aren't able to receive large material donations but we may be able to connect individuals to the family if necessary.”
"The birthplace of Nine Line was on fire," said Tyler Merritt, CEO of Nine Line Apparel said, according to WSAV3. "I immediately called the tenants — they said they were at the beach they had no idea their house was on fire and that their entire family was with them, which was really the only concern we had."
"I'll be able to rebuild the building, but they've lost all of their pictures and all of their belongings. I have incredible memories there, but we can rebuild."
The cause of the fire was still unclear as of Tuesday.
The “relentlessly patriotic” Nine Line brand is named for the medevac request code for a service member injured on the field of battle, supporting military and first responder charities and disaster relief initiatives.
