Three United States troops were among five wounded in the second of two rocket attacks on Camp Taji in Baghdad, Iraq this week.

Iraq officials: Rocket attack hits base housing US troops

"Last night, there was a Katyusha rocket attack on U.S., coalition and Iraqi forces at Camp Taji," said Jonathan Hoffman, assistant defense secretary for public affairs. "We had three U.S. service members who were injured. Two seriously who are being treated at the military hospital at the Baghdad Airport base."

At least 25 107mm rockets hit Camp Taji just before 11 a.m. — the daytime strike was the first of its kind in recent years, the Iraqi military statement said.

The rocket attack came days after a similar one that killed two U.S. service members on Wednesday of last week. The two were serving in support of Operation Reherent Resolve and 12 additional coalition members were injured in the attack.
