Travis Air Force Base in California issued evacuation orders on Wednesday as wildfires continue to spread.

"In response to the LNU Lightning Complex Fire near Fairfield and Vacaville, California, the Travis Air Force Base installation commander has ordered evacuations for non-mission essential personnel in accordance with the Solano County fire department’s mandatory evacuations, Aug. 19, 2020," a release from the installation reads.

The LNU Lightning Complex Fire has been burning for two days and containment measures have so far been ineffective. The fire is just one of multiple burning across northern California as the state's record-breaking heatwave continues.

"Fires are making runs in multiple directions and impacting multiple communities. A critically dry airmass is moving over the area bringing strong winds," a Cal Fire statement read Wednesday night.

Non-mission essential personnel living in Travis AFB housing or lodging have been directed to evacuate immediately through the installation's South and North gates. The main gate and the hospital gates are off-limits. Mission essential personnel have been directed to contact their chain of command for duty status.

"There is currently no lodging available on Travis Air Force Base and members are directed to stay with family or friends, proceed to evacuation centers, or secure commercial lodging outside of the evacuation area," the release adds.

The base is coordinating with the Emergency Family Assistance Center to assist with relocation.

Air National Guard personnel have been assisting with firefighting efforts across the state. Four C-130s from the California Air National Guard's 146th, the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd, and Nevada Air National Guard's 152nd Airlift Wings have been dropping retardant on blazes including the Lake Fire north of Santa Clarita, the Salt Fire near Stockton, and the LNU Fire, Air Force Magazine reported.
