An American service member died in Afghanistan Thursday, according to a statement from NATO-led Operation Resolute Support.
Details have yet to be released on the incident but military officials say the service member died "during combat operations."
This is the third U.S. Service Member to die in Afghanistan in over a week.
On August 21, Two US Special Forces soldiers, Master Sgt. Luis F. Deleon-Figueroa, 31, and Master Sgt. Jose J. Gonzalez, 35, were killed Aug. 21, during combat operations in Faryab Province, Afghanistan.
In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the fallen will be released 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.
