A World War II-era Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress crashed at Bradley International Airpot just outside of Hartford, Connecticut Wednesday morning according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane crashed at the end of Runway 6 while attempting to land. The plane was being operated as a civilian aircraft and is not flown by the military. According to the "Wings of Freedom Tour" website, a show featuring the B-17 was scheduled at the airport for this week from Monday to Thursday.

According to CNN, at least six patients from the crash are being taken to Hartford hospital. Local news affiliate News 12 Connecticut has reported that two deaths were confirmed by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.

The airport — the second largest in New England — is currently closed and officials will release information about the people aboard as it becomes available.
