Nearly eight decades ago, Walter Kloc served the nation during World War II.

On Wednesday, the 101-year-old traveled from his home in New York to commission his grandson Joseph Kloc as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force during a ceremony at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

According to a post on the Academy’s Facebook page, the elder Kloc received a standing ovation and “everyone in the room was gifted with a memory they’ll never forget.”

“The Greatest Generation swearing in the new generation,” said one Facebook commentator. “Priceless.”

“Such an incredible and memorable moment for that family and all who were there,” said another Facebook user.  “God Bless them.”
