The U.S. Coast Guard and Louisiana National Guard geared up this past weekend to take on Tropical Storm Barry's landfall on July 12. Governor John Bel Edwards activated over 2,260 soldiers and airmen before the storm to prep with sandbags and staging high-water vehicles.
Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans personnel were staged in surrounding areas to respond with helicopter aircrew rescues.
LA National Guard is also now working to repair levees that were overtopped during the storm.
