A Vail Veteran's Love Story of Recovery

Becky Hinkhouse was only 18 when she learned her boyfriend Kade, a United States Marine deployed to Iraq, was seriously wounded in battle.
He lost a leg, was put into a coma and would eventually endure a tough 2-year recovery. Would he survive? Would their relationship?
The journey was hell for both Kade and Becky, until a life-changing moment in the mountains.

What began as a 5-day adaptive ski/snowboard program in Vail, has evolved to year-round therapeutic and rehabilitative programming, impacting the lives of over 1,146 wounded Veterans and 1,773 family members and caregivers from across the nation. Established in 2004, Vail Veterans Program (VVP) offers severely wounded Veterans and their families the opportunity to benefit from the healing environment of the Rocky Mountains.
The Winter Family Program offers severely wounded veterans and their families the opportunity to participate in private, full-day adaptive ski/snowboard instruction with PSIA certified instructors at Vail Mountain. Family members also enjoy the slopes whether on ski's, boards or the tubing park.
At the Summer Family Program, wounded veterans and their families participate in outdoor activities including rock climbing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, zip-lining, mountain biking, and fly-fishing.
