Fort Bliss is asking for the public's help in locating Sgt. Daniel A. Soto de Jesus.

Soto de Jesus, who was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1/1 AD, has gone missing from the Texas military base since Monday. A social media post from his unit describes the 28-year-old as 5-foot-8 tall and 170 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing his standard Army multicam OCP uniform.

Soto de Jesus was last seen on Monday, July 26th at 10:14 a.m. at his duty station, and his vehicle, a Honda sedan with license plate TX-KXG7848, was last seen driving north on I-25 in New Mexico.

Fort Bliss is asking anyone who has information about Soto de Jesus or his whereabouts to please call the post CID office at 915-300-7866.

Meanwhile, another soldier, Richard Halliday of the 1-43 Air Defense Artillery, has been missing from Fort Bliss for over a year. In Halliday's case, it took 36 days before his family was notified and even longer before Fort Bliss began organizing searches to find the soldier.

This time, Fort Bliss reports they notified Soto de Jesus' family immediately and quickly searched his areas of work and recreation.

Halliday vanished without a trace from his unit while it was quarantined in the barracks due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite several searches on post and a nearby national park, no sign of him has been found.
