The mission of the United Service Organization (USO) is to strengthen America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and country throughout their service to the nation. Chenega MIOS believes in the USO's mission, and we are supporting the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia through their USO Experience Virginia Beach event series.
The USO Experience is one of the newest event series, and these summer events are generating incredible impact. They create meaningful experiences for service members and their families while facilitating significant interactions between the military and civilian worlds. Each event is designed to create athletic challenges, family bonding, peer-to-peer connection, and bridging the military/civilian divide while building the community and allowing each participant to have fun! Some of the activities include adventure and STEM camp, paddleboard, functional fitness competitions, equine therapy, horseback riding, rowing competitions, yoga, and more.
Part of the mission at Chenega MIOS is to give back to our military members who give us so much. At Chenega MIOS, we give back as much as we can to the military. In the past 14 years alone, Chenega MIOS has been proud to support Azalea Charities' Aid for Wounded Warriors, a not-for-profit based out of Dumfries, VA. This organization was 100% volunteer-run and donated comfort and relief items to military veterans who were injured during their service to our country. In those 14 years, MIOS raised over $800,000 for our nation’s warriors through various fundraising efforts. Though Azalea Charities' closed its doors in 2020, Chenega MIOS was determined to continue our support to our nation’s military and veterans. After research and much consideration, Chenega MIOS is now excited for the opportunity to support a new organization, Vigilant Torch Association, a charity that supports our Special Forces Community.

While the USO carries out its mission every day, the general public does not always experience the impact of the USO's programs and activities. Chenega MIOS encourages you to get involved with the USO, so together, we can create impactful experiences for service members and their families while bringing together the military and civilian worlds.
