More than 3,700 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $64 million has been seized by the Coast Guard and its partner agencies over the past 10 days in the Caribbean.
“These cases represent the collective work of a larger interagency and international team whose unified efforts counter the nefarious activities of transnational criminal organizations that seek to disrupt and destabilize everywhere they operate,” said Rear Adm. Eric C. Jones, Seventh Coast Guard District commander, in a release.
Several Coast Guard Cutters, including the Reliance, William Trump, Joseph Napier, Joseph Doyle, Donald Horsley partnered with the dock landing ship USS Comstock, Customs and Border Patrol and Dutch Coast Guard to make the disruptions.
In addition, 19 drug smugglers were apprehended, a Coast Guard release states. They may now face criminal charges by the Department of Justice.
