The Washington Commanders introduced their new team dog on Tuesday afternoon.
Mando, an eight-month-old English black Labrador retriever, was named by the Commanders players and will formally make his debut at the team's regular-season opener on Sept. 11 at FedEx Field.
Mando is being trained by K9s for Warriors and will eventually be paired with a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, a traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. Roughly 20 veterans die by suicide each day, which K9s for Warriors is hoping to change.
Mando weighs 70 pounds and has already made significant strides in his training, according to the team.
