While Military Appreciation Month honors all who serve, Soldiers’ Angels is placing an additional emphasis on the needs of Military Working Dogs through the Honor Military Working Dogs care package collection campaign.
Working directly with deployed MWD handlers, the national nonprofit is gathering the four-legged military members’ most-needed items as their handlers face a lack of specialized supplies once overseas.
“We’re excited to continue the much-needed support for our four-legged friends through Honor Military Working Dogs,” said Air Force veteran and President and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels Amy Palmer. “Our Military K9s and their handlers are vital to operations, and it’s our pleasure to support them during their time overseas.”
Specific items requested for the Honor MWD collection include heavy-duty toys for power chewers, grooming tools, large food/water bowls, and more. Due to their strict diets, Soldiers’ Angels cannot accept or ship dog food or treats.

For those looking to support service members or continue their military appreciation past National Pet Week, Soldiers’ Angels also maintains its Go Camo initiative. The year-round program collects top-requested items for deployed service members. Individuals and organizations can participate by shipping items directly to Soldiers' Angels or shopping via an Amazon Registry. In addition to care package items, Soldiers’ Angels is collecting monetary donations to offset the $25 shipping cost per care package.
