A Navy hospital corpsman opened fire at a local business in Frederick, Maryland Tuesday morning, wounding two, authorities said.
The 38-year old corpsman then drove ten minutes to Fort Detrick where military personnel shot and killed him, according to police and Navy officials. The circumstances around both shootings remain unclear.
The two victims wounded in the shooting are in critical condition and have been flown by helicopter to the hospital, Frederick Police Chief Jason Landon said in a press statement Tuesday morning.
The names of the victims and the shooter have not yet been released, but the Navy confirmed that the shooter was a corpsman and sailors were involved via its official Twitter account.
This is a developing story.
