A first-of-its-kind Veterans Transition Center is now open in North Carolina.
Lowe’s, the Carolina Panthers, and Veterans Bridge Home unveiled the 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art co-working space and community center for veterans, military service members, and their families on May 24 in Charlotte.
“Workforce development for veterans and their spouses is at the heart of Lowe’s military commitment,” said Marine veteran Joe McFarland, Lowe’s executive vice president of stores.
The facility is dedicated to facilitating the employment and advancement of veterans across the region.
“It’s the only co-working space of its kind in the Carolinas, and now offers 10,000 square feet for gatherings, networking, and meetings,” explained McFarland. “There are people at the Transition Center who understand what it is like to transition from military to civilian life and can help guide these veterans.”
A signature feature of the new space is the Salute to Service Lounge, a community living room conceptualized by Lowe’s and the Carolina Panthers. The lounge space serves as a community gathering area and includes private family rooms for client consultations as well as large tables, sofas, and other sitting areas.
“The mission of this project and Lowe’s partnership with Veterans Bridge Home is to employ and advance more veterans in our community,” added McFarland.
Lowe’s employs 20,000 members of the military community – roughly 15% of its total workforce/ The company also offers a 10% discount to active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their spouses
