The Army has suspended one of its former top spokespersons from his consulting position after he posted a tweet that appeared to mock a comment by First Lady Jill Biden on the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
According to numerous reports, retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky posted a response to a tweet made by Biden on June 24 to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

According to USA Today, in a now-deleted tweet, Volesky replied “Glad to see you finally know what a woman is.”
According to the newspaper, Volesky provided mentorship and training to Army officers, staffers, and students under a $92-an-hour contract with the Army.
In a statement to The Washington Post, Army spokesperson Cynthia Smith said Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin, commanding general of the Combined Arms Center, suspended Volesky from his contract as a senior mentor “pending the outcome of the commander’s inquiry.”
Volesky. 60, received the Silver Star for his actions in Iraq. He also served in Afghanistan and during the Gulf War. He commanded the Army's I Corps and the 101st Airborne Division. Volesky served as the chief of the Army's Public Affairs division from 2012 to 2014. He retired in 2020.
In 2021, Volesky replied to a tweet by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo)., about the investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, according to USA Today.
"I'm honored to serve on the January 6th select committee. Our oath to the Constitution must be above partisan politics," Cheney tweeted.
"This is all about partisan politics," Volesky responded, according to USA Today.
