Nonprofit Soldiers’ Angels is making an urgent appeal for its annual Adopt-A-Family program.
To date, 468 military and veteran families are still seeking adoption. That number is expected to grow as the organization continues to approve families who have applied to take part in this year's holiday support program.
The annual initiative allows businesses, organizations, and individuals to provide a holiday celebration that military and veteran families deserve by providing a meal and gifts for their children.
“With the holidays right around the corner, the need to find volunteers to adopt our remaining military families couldn’t be more urgent,” Amy Palmer, President & CEO of Soldiers’ Angels, said in a statement. “Nearly 500 families are counting on us. We invite those with the means to join us in guaranteeing memorable holidays for our military and veteran families.”
In 2023, the Adopt-A-Family campaign successfully supported 1,898 families and 7,684 children through donations exceeding $700,000 in gifts and food assistance. Building on this momentum, Soldiers’ Angels is set to serve over 2,000 families in 2024.
Supporters pledge to provide, at a minimum, one gift for each child and a grocery gift card to put towards a holiday meal. The program is meant to supplement a family’s holiday celebration. Once approved, adopters can view the family’s contact information and wish lists. Adopters are asked to coordinate directly with their family regarding any questions, including those about shipping and delivery.
