The Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors are co-hosting a virtual Caregiver Community Town Hall on Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
The event will bring together caregivers for an honest discussion about the complex experience of moving from caregiver to survivor.
“Through the powerful partnership between TAPS and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, we honor not only the lives of our fallen heroes, but the courage of those who cared for them. This Town Hall is more than a conversation — it is a call to compassion, a guide through grief, and a testament to the resilience of military families,” said TAPS President and Founder Bonnie Carroll. “In every question asked and every story shared, we are building a future where no caregiver is ever left behind.”
The town hall also provides a vital platform for caregivers to share their experiences, gain insights, and access critical resources as they navigate life beyond their caregiving responsibilities.
“When caregiving ends, life as a caregiver changes dramatically,” said Elizabeth Dole Foundation CEO Steve Schwab. “Through our partnership with TAPS, we’ve seen how critical it is for caregivers to have guidance, resources, and a plan for what comes next.”
Schwab said the event will focus on the transition from caregiver to survivor and provide insights and support for those navigating life after loss.
“These conversations not only empower caregivers but equip the broader community to stand beside them during one of the most difficult chapters of their journey,” he added.
Both Carroll and Schwab will speak during the event. Staff from both organizations will be available to offer immediate resources, guidance, and support tailored to those navigating this unique transition.
This event is open to all caregivers interested in understanding and addressing the emotional, practical, and social aspects of this significant life change. RSVP here.
