TRYBE looks to help dancers struggling with mental, physical health

Dancers disproportionately suffer from poor mental health, with the rigors of the industry leaving dancers seeking validation through social media likes, views, and followers.

This addressable vicious circle compounds the mental health crisis Trybe Portal aims to solve by way of education and community building by delivering the tools dance enthusiasts need to pursue their craft as a professional calling or creative outlet. Together with the Alive and Well Foundation, the goal is to raise funds to address this urgent need with new and more widely available resources.

Trybe Portal is bringing together a community of dancers and bridging the gap between real-life and virtual experiences, providing dancers of all ages the resources and network they need to live well and thrive. The Alive and Well Foundation is committed to ensuring that mental health services become a human right -- striving to provide evidence-based psychotherapy care to all patients while offering support to every patient in need.

Students will train with the best dancers in the business, but more importantly, gain an education and gather invaluable industry perspective to find strength in dance, with talks on subjects ranging from the importance of mental health, nutrition, and fitness, to the business of dance and entertainment.

Phil Tayag
Choreographer to the stars Phil Tayag counts Bruno Mars as a steadfast client and was a founding member of the group Jabbawockeez. Phil is an industry insider who recognized during a global pandemic that his artistic community needed resources to live with more confidence, more stability, and more joy.
