This week’s Women Owned Wednesday business is Korochka Tavern!
At Korochka Tavern, we've been serving cocktails, beer, and Eastern European specialties for nearly a decade. Though our origins are in Lake City, we’ve been open in Wallingford since 2020. Our tavern is the perfect place to come spoil yourself, your best friends, or your date. Whether you bring your favorite plus one or just yourself plus a book, Korochka is your neighborhood spot to hide away from the monotony of everyday.
Long before we went into business together, we were best friends. After all these years, we're so proud to own and operate the kind of place we've always wanted to hang out in. That means offering delicious treats in a charming and cozy environment, but it also means teaching other women to become confident, creative bartenders. Everything we do is grounded in our DIY spirit, and it’s one of our greatest joys to demonstrate that to young women who are just starting out in the bar industry.
We also love to work with other small, immigrant-owned businesses to help us curate the most delectable and nostalgic Eastern European hospitality experience we can. Our menu features pelmeni and vareniki, savory baked piroshki, assorted pickles, honey cake, and more. These things, alongside what’s pouring behind the bar, are based on flavors and recipes from all across Eastern Europe. We hope to share the beauty of this culturally diverse region with each of our guests.
