Seven counties have been ordered by the State to close bars amid an increase of coronavirus cases, and another 8 counties have been asked to issue local orders.
According to the
LA Times, the following counties have been ordered by Governor Newsom to shut their doors after a recent spike in additional coronavirus cases:
- Los Angeles
- Fresno
- Kern
- San Joaquin
- Tulare
- Kings
- Imperial
Another 8 counties have been asked to issue local health orders to close bars, including the following:
- Contra Costa
- Santa Clara
- Sacramento
- Riverside
- San Bernardino
- Ventura
- Santa Barbara
- Stanislaus
Governor Newsom said in a written statement, "COVID-19 is still circulating in California, and in some parts of the state, growing stronger. That's why it is critical we take this step to limit the spread of the virus in the counties that are seeing the biggest increases."
Earlier in June, Newsom ordered all Californians to wear face masks in most public places with very few exclusions.
