I'm quickly racking up things to do and places to visit now that I live in Northern California, and after seeing McWay Falls on Only In Your State, this is easily at the top of my list now.
McWay Falls is a little bit of a drive away from Sacramento, but if you drive south past Monterey along Highway 1, you'll come across it in the middle of the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. The beach is inaccessible, so it's not exactly a swimming spot. But it provides an ideal photo opportunity with its bright blue water and palm trees overlooking the beach.
Google Local Guide Jason Shelton commented in his online review, "The views reminded me of something I would see in Hawaii." He also mentioned that he visited McWay Falls at sunrise, which was "unbelievable."
Once tourist spots begin reopening, I'd love to visit Hearst Castle and McWay Falls is definitley a place I'll stop at along the way there. Have you ever seen this waterfall?
