Finally, I had an eventful weekend!
My parents were in town for just a couple days, and it was so great to get out and spend time with them. They transported many of my belongings to Sacramento from Colorado, and so much of the weekend was spent unpacking and organizing my things. But when I wasn't doing that, we were out and about all over town doing the touristy parent things.
On Saturday, we went to the Placer County Tortoise Rescue & Sanctuary because I wanted to show my parents the tortoises and other animals they have there. We got to play with ducks, chickens, geese, and baby ostriches, plus baby and adult tortoises. One of the ostriches attempted to eat my toenails. Having an ostrich peck at me toes was such a bizarre feeling, but I loved the attention.

Afterwards, we made our way to Apple Hill to check out Boa Vista Orchards where we ate blueberry sourcream apple pie for lunch! We ended up buying an 8" apple pie to take home, which we ate for dinner. I don't remember eating anything other than apple pie that day.

Before heading home to Sacramento, we stopped at one of the wineries along the way, Lewis Grace Winery. I tried their Summer Sipper flight!

When I got home, I realized I had a "backpack tan." I had been wearing my Kanken mini backpack all day in the sun, and got sunburnt around the backpack (so naturally, I snapped a pic). I spent Saturday evening unpacking, and my dad helped me put together the headboard on my bed. I'd struggled to put it together myself four months ago, and I'm super happy that I now have a complete spindle bed!

While I was unpacking, I found a letter that I wrote to myself in an envelope that said, "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL March 19, 2020." I had never opened the envelope, and still haven't. I kind of feel like waiting. I vaguely remember what I wrote, and it's mainly a "vision board" type of letter detailing what is happening in my life. I know for a fact that what I DO remember writing in the letter did NOT happen in my life...much of that is because of the coronavirus pandemic. A part of me feels embarrassed to open it and read about the things that I DON'T have...but I don't remember the entire letter, so I'm sure there are things in it that I HAVE gained in my life in abundance. I'll open it when I'm ready.

On Sunday, I was feeling pretty exhausted but I still went out with my parents since they planned to leave Monday morning. We walked around Old Sacramento and had lunch at Brannan Manor where I tried Ace pineapple cider. It was SO GOOD! If you've never tried it before, you absolutely need to try it sometime. It's very sweet, but so refreshing for summer. Later that night, we enjoyed a picnic with food from Field House on Fulton. I got the lettuce wrapped tacos, which were messy but delicious!
