An expert is weighing in on what social interaction will look like post-pandemic, including a possible "Roaring 20s" situation.
According to the Daily Mail, Yale University professor Dr. Nicholas Christakis, a social epidemiologist specializing in behavior patterns, predicts that people will desperately seek social interactions as soon as the threat of COVID-19 has passed.
Christakis says that for the time being, people are becoming more religious (or spiritual), trying to save money, and avoiding socializing to escape the risk of contracting the coronavirus. Based on how we've historically bounced back after epidemics and plagues, things will look much different in the next few years.
"In 2024, all of those [pandemic trends] will be reversed. People will relentlessly seek out social interactions," he said, citing higher levels of spending, more sex, and "reverse of religiosity" as examples of what we might see that year.
Christakis wrote a whole book about this and goes into more detail with The Guardian (via Daily Mail). You can read more here.
