Here's where to recycle your Christmas tree in Sacramento

Did you know that Christmas trees can be used as biofuel to generate electricity? Yep! That's why it's so great to recycle your Christmas tree. Sacramento County has shared a list of locations to drop of your tree on Saturday, January 9, and Sunday, January 10. 

Here are the drop off locations: 

  • Kiefer Landfill, 12701 Kiefer Blvd., Sloughhouse
    • January 9-10, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
    • Facility fees apply for six or more trees
  • North Area Recovery Station, 4450 Roseville Rd., North Highlands 
    • January 9-10, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
    • Facility fees apply for six or more trees 
  • Elder Creek Recovery and Transfer, 8642 Elder Creek Rd., Sacramento 
    • January 9, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station, 8491 Fruitridge Rd., Sacramento 
    • Accepting trees December 26-January 9, Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Dan Russell Rodeo Arena, Rodeo Park, end of Stafford Street, Folsom
    • January 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Flocked trees will be accepted but treated as garbage and sent to a landfill. Read more from Sac County here
