Bradshaw Animal Shelter is looking for volunteers to calm shelter pets during Fourth of July fireworks.

According to a press release from Sacramento County, volunteers would sit, sing, read, or softly play a musical instrument while Fourth of July festivities are happening.

"All of the noises caused by celebrations are really terrifying for the animals and they don't understand what is happening," said Celeste Ingrid, program coordinator for Bradshaw. "The human voice can be a very powerful tool for calming animals down."

If you'd like to volunteer, you'll need to register online first. Individuals or groups of up to five people are invited. Get more information here.
