Man awarded $450,000 after boss threw him a birthday party that he said he didn't want

A man with an anxiety disorder was awarded $450,000 by a jury after his employer threw him a birthday party, despite warning them that it would cause him to have a panic attack.

In 2019, the man asked his employer not to celebrate his birthday, as it would be an emotional trigger for him. The company threw a lunchtime party for him anyway, and he ended up getting upset and experiencing a panic attack over it.

After management confronted him for leaving to have lunch in his car, he got upset again and they ended up firing him.

The man sued his former employer for lost pay and emotional distress, and was awarded $450,000.
