Phantom Falls Trail is a 4.1-mile out-and-back trail at Table Mountain near Oroville, about an hour and a half north of Sacramento. This moderately-challenging hike provides stunning views of Table Mountain and the Phantom
Falls waterfall, which runs only during rainy season and early spring.
Rolling hills and trickling water along this hike transport you to another world, as one of the most scenic and peaceful views California has to offer.
This hike is popular, so you'll likely see other visitors while you're there. But I'm guessing it won't be nearly as packed as the popular trails closer to Sacramento.
According to some hikers' reviews on All Trails, walkways could be muddy. Waterproof hiking boots may be helpful for your visit.
