On the Wednesday episode of the Paul Zeise show on 93.7 The Fan, Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette joined to discuss the ever changing world of high school sports in the state of Pennsylvania.

As of right now, the PIAA is ready to begin their winter sports schedule without delay, the first games are scheduled for this Friday.

According to White, basketball, wrestling, and swimming are all expected to start on time, unless delayed by the school district themselves.

The PIAA has extended the winter sports season to adjust for schools who may be starting later than others.

A team must complete 15 practices before starting a season, and with many schools closed to in-person meetings, teams have not been able to practice regularly.

An added bonus of the extended season is the ability to be flexible if there are more shutdowns within the state, or is teams have to cancel games themselves.
