Over the weekend, the Milton Eagles mens basketball team hosted their 5-Star classic that featured the Newton Rams, Denmark Danes and Tennessee’s Houston Mustangs, who are ranked No. 10 in the state of Tennessee. The two day, three game classic also featured some of the nation’s top recruits including Milton’s Bruce Thorton, an Ohio State commit, and Kanaan Carlyle, one of Georgia’s 5-star freshman., Denmark’s Sutton Smith and Joseph Scott, Newton’s Stephon Castle and TJ Clark, and Houston’s Mason Miller, son of head coach and former NBA player, Mike Miller, and LSU signee, Jerrell Colbert. Although Milton would win both of their games in the classic, they would find themselves taken to the limit in each win. On Friday, the Eagles would squeak out a 72-68 overtime win over Denmark and on Saturday, Milton would hold on for a 54-53 win over Houston. The Eagles would get solid play all weekend from Thorton as well as senior guard Broc Bidwell, Carlyle and sophomore LT Overton, who just wrapped his football season just a week ago. Milton improved to 7-2 following Saturday's win.
