The Giants introduced Bob Melvin as their 39th manager in team history on Wednesday morning. Melvin, President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and team chairman Greg Johnson met with the media for over 35 minutes. Here's everything you need to now.

Bob Melvin is confident the Giants have the resources to win.

"There isn't a team I haven't managed that no matter what the personnel looks like, when you go out to play a game you are very convicted and you're going to win. So, in Oakland we might not have had the resources of some other teams but we had some success, and that was based on the commitment from everybody from the top down in the organization and that's the way it's going to be here to. You look at this ballpark and the fans that come out here and support this team, the city and everything, there's all the resources here to win.'

Melvin had never spoken to Buster Posey and respected it.

"I finally got to speak to Buster Posey. I have never spoken to Buster Posey in all these years and you know what, that's a good thing because he was about winning and about playing and about competing, not about being somebody's friend."

Melvin coveted the Giants job over other potential opportunities.

"When this one came up, this is probably the only one I would have listened to," Melvin explained when asked about going through the process of being granted permission by the Padres to interview for other jobs while still under contract for one more season.

Melvin, a Bay-Area native is happy to be back home.

"This is kind of a surreal moment for me. I grew up around here an absolute crazy Bay Area sports fan. Whether it was Cal and Stanford, the 49ers and Raiders, Giants and A's, the Warriors, I was into it all and I was walking over here today thinking, talk about full-circle. For me this isn't even something as a kid you could even dream of."

Melvin and Zaidi contracts are aligned through 2026

The newsiest part of the press conference came when Farhan Zaidi was asked about only having one year left on his contract while Melvin was being brought in for longer. That was put to rest when Giants chairman Greg Johnson chimed in that the club and Zaidi had "agreed in principle" to a deal that aligns both the manager and President of Baseball Operations through 2026.
