Friday, November 26 is going to be a confusing assortment of two colors at Citi Field.

Cleverly titled "Blue Friday at Citi Field" to fit the team's color scheme while also acknowledging the shopping holiday known as Black Friday, there's a big sale going on at the Mets' team store, with 50% off merchandise between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and 35% off from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interestingly enough, however, the pieces of merchandise that will likely be most sought after are not blue. And in the fans' race to get their hands on the limited supply, there might be a fair amount of black and blue marks in the stereotypical Black Friday scrum that occurs.

On Tuesday morning, the Mets announced that the first delivery of black replica jerseys, which the team will wear on "Blackout Fridays" at home games all season long in 2022, has arrived at the team store. Unfortunately, they are not part of the Blue Friday sale. Confused yet?

Here's what matters most: you can get your hands on a black Mets jersey.

The black jerseys returned in 2021, much to the pleasure of multiple Mets players and fans, though they didn't have the most success while wearing them. First came a loss to the Reds when they made their official return on July 30, a 6-2 defeat. Next was a Friday the 13th loss to the Dodgers in August, a close one that was blown in the ninth. Then, a complete clunker to the Nationals on August 27 in which they collected a whopping four hits. It wasn't until their fourth matchup, the first of a three-game homestand against the Yankees, that the Mets finally got a win — and a convincing 10-3 win at that — with their black jerseys. But the year ended on a bad note, with a loss to Zach Wheeler and the Phillies on September 17.

Hopefully, the black jerseys hold more good fortune in them for 2022 than they did in 2021 — but it's not like that 1-4 record is going to stop them from flying off the shelves come Friday.
