Aaron Rodgers may finally have the opportunity to publicly address the reports about him and the Green Bay Packers.
The reigning NFL MVP is expected to make a guest appearance on ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne’s final show on Monday, May 24 during the 11 p.m. ET “SportsCenter.”
The 37-year-old quarterback has remained mum since the draft-day report surfaced that he was disgruntled with the Packers organization and did not wish to return.
He declined an interview with NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico at the Kentucky Derby on May 1 and only spoke with the gambling outlet TwinSpires, in which much of the conversation was focused on horse-racing.
The Packers have publicly denied they have any interest in trading Rodgers and had reportedly told teams who inquired, such as the San Francisco 49ers, that they were wasting their time.
But a rift between Rodgers and the Packers certainly seems to exist and Rodgers is expected to report to the team’s mandatory minicamp on June 8.
Rodgers has a strong relationship with Mayne and has been interviewed by him many times over the years. While Mayne’s interviews are normally light-hearted, he should ask him something about his future with the Green Bay Packers.
Whether or not Rodgers gives a straight answer remains to be seen.
