SANTA CLARA — It’s been easy to spot Deebo Samuel at Warriors games lately.
The 49ers wide receiver has received the VIP treatment and sat right next to Warriors owner Joe Lacob for a couple of games, interacting with the NBA stars from his front row seat. During the Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Grizzlies, Deebo even high-fived Warriors guard Jordan Poole during the game after big 3-pointers and appeared to be talking trash to Memphis forward Dillon Brooks.

Deebo said he’s enjoyed chopping it up with Poole briefly during games and showing love for the Dubs. Both players secured big contract extensions earlier this year and are on the rise. Earlier this season, Poole even gave Deebo a signed game-used jersey right off his back.
“He’s cool for sure. One hundred percent,” Samuel said of Poole on Wednesday. “They support us just as well as we go out support them.”
So, was he actually talking courtside smack to Brooks during that heated Christmas Day game?
“I was talking to everybody,” Deebo said with a smile.
While the Warriors have been up-and-down this season and are toting a .500 record, they’re still the defending champs. Now the 49ers look like they could be the next team to bring a major sports title home to the Bay Area.
At the end of December, Poole discussed what it’s like to have Deebo’s support and both Bay Area teams riding high.
“First of all, shoutout to Deebo, man,” Poole said. “He’s a tremendous, tremendous athlete. We just be chopping it up. Bay Area love. I’m a fan. Anybody who’s out there, who works as he does and positive as he is, you try to support guys like that. Especially just seeing him come and being courtside, him interacting as he does. I hit his hand in the game, telling him to turn me up. It was good to bring the whole Bay Area together. Not only for the Warriors but for all of our teams. Especially the last four years. I try to support the best way I can because we need stuff like that. We need moments like that. As a Bay Area we’re united. Gotta keep the good mojo going.”
The 49ers will try to extend their season with a win in Sunday’s 3:30 p.m. PT game against the Dallas Cowboys, but the Warriors also host the Brooklyn Nets at 5:30 p.m. PT so it’ll be a busy day for Bay Area sports.
