49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk knows that Kyle Shanahan will take accountability for his team’s 3-5 record. Questions are swirling around the head coach, his offense and his role in personnel decisions for the Niners, who are sharing the NFC West cellar with the Seattle Seahawks.
Juszczyk hopped on 95.7 The Game’s “Damon & Ratto” Wednesday afternoon to discuss the 49ers’ struggles this season and how it’s affecting the locker room. You can hear the full interview below:
According to Juszczyk, the players are in full support of Shanahan and general manager John Lynch despite four losses in the past five games and a rookie class that hasn’t contributed much.
“I think Kyle’s doing a phenomenal job,” Juszczyk said. “There’s nobody in our locker room that’s calling for a different head coach. I can promise you that. We all have 100 percent faith in our head coach and all the decisions he’s been making. Him and Lynch as well. We really do have their backs 100 percent.”
The 49ers received a big boost last week when tight end George Kittle returned to the team. San Francisco is reeling with key injuries to the secondary and just lost right tackle Mike McGlinchey for the year, but Juszczyk is still confident the 49ers are a playoff team.

The 7-2 Los Angeles Rams are set to visit Levi’s Stadium in Week 10 for a Monday night matchup, one week after the Cardinals dominated and embarrassed the 49ers. A loss would put San Francisco’s record at 3-6 and put them firmly behind the 8-ball for a playoff spot, even with the expanded postseason.
Still, Juszczyk said the vibe is positive amongst his teammates.
“It’s not at all been the start to the season that any of us imagined,” Juszczyk said. “We really felt like we have a playoff team and to be honest, we still feel that way. We really do.”
