Kyle Shanahan addressed the media for the first time following the reported acquisition of EDGE rusher Randy Gregory in trade from the Denver Broncos.
Shanahan was asked about the potential low risk, high-reward nature of the deal.
"Yes, that's why we felt extremely good about it, especially making the trade just having to flip a 6th and 7th and not hurt anything money wise, so we felt fortunate to add him to our team."
The 49ers gave up a 6th-round pick in the 2024 draft while acquiring Gregory and a 7th-round pick in 2024 from the Broncos. San Francisco will only owe Gregory the veteran minimum for the remainder of the season while the Broncos will pay Gregory $10 million for the rest of 2023, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Gregory will not be active for the 49ers vs. the Cowboys on Sunday night.
