Christian McCaffrey punched it in on the 49ers opening drive to record at least one TD in 13 straight games, which broke Jerry Rice’s 49ers record.
McCaffrey then hurdled Cardinals cornerback Kei’Trel Clark for his second touchdown of the afternoon.
Brock Purdy hurled a 42-yard deep ball into double coverage for a completion to Brandon Aiyuk to set up the first half hat-trick for McCaffrey.
After the Cardinals scored touchdowns on consecutive drives to pull within 21-16 Purdy hit Aiyuk with another deep ball for 34 yards to set up McCaffrey’s fourth touchdown of the afternoon.
The 49ers improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2019, when they last went to the Super Bowl, have won 14 consecutive regular season games and 16 of the last 17 including the playoffs. The 49ers will welcome the Dallas Cowboys to Levi’s Stadium next Sunday night in a rematch of their Divisional Round playoff win in January and one of the more highly anticipated showdown games of the early NFL season.
