PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – While 2020 has been miserable for most, it’s been quite a year on the field for West Virginia’s Darius Stills. The latest honor for the senior defensive tackle is being named First Team AP All-American.
Stills was already the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and All-Big 12 First team. The senior from Fairmont, West Virginia finished with 22 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and an interception. He was a semifinalist for the Lott Impact Award and the Senior CLASS Award.
Stills father, Gary, was All-Big East and played nine years in the NFL. Darius’ brother, Dante, has two more years of eligibility with the Mountaineers and had 7.5 tackles for loss and a couple of sacks this season.
Tavon Austin was the last West Virginia player named first-team in 2012.
Sophomore defensive back Tykee Smith named Third Team AP All-America leading the team in interceptions with two and second in tackles for loss with eight and overall tackles with 61.
Mountaineers do have a game left, playing Army at the Liberty Bowl on Thursday.
