
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) The 2020-21 NHL is officially happening.
As the league and its teams near the return to training camps and the season which is set to begin on Jan. 13, 2021, teams have began announcing their schedules.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have released their schedule, and the first game will be in Philadelphia against the rival Flyers on Jan. 13.
The rest of the schedule will look different than normal due to the restraints of COVID-19.
The Penguins will only play in the East Division, which consists of the Penguins, Flyers, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and the Washington Capitals.
Throughout the season, the Penguins will play each team eight times, to complete a 56-game season.
The times for each game are yet to be determined.
Other significant dates during the season are:
April 12- Trade deadline (3:00 p.m.)
May 8- End of regular season
May 11- Postseason begins
July 9- Last possible day of Stanley Cup Final
To start the season, the Penguins will not be allowing fans into PPG Paints Arena.
Once state and local officials give permission, fans will be permitted to attend games, most likely with capacity protocols.
