PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Already having to cancel the game at Duke on Tuesday, the Pitt men’s home basketball game with Notre Dame on Saturday has been postponed due to a positive coronavirus test within the Pitt program.

Panthers now also dealing with contact tracing because of a positive test outside of the program as well.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have determined it is in the program’s best interests to postpone Saturday’s game,” said head coach Jeff Capel in a statement. “We are testing daily within the program and will thoroughly conduct contact tracing to identify anyone who is determined to be a close contact. The health and safety of everyone in the program remains our focus as we look to navigate this pandemic.”

The Pitt women’s basketball program is on pause for four games after a positive COVID-19 test with subsequent quarantining and contact tracing.

This came hours before the Panthers were to host Boston College on Thursday.  It will cause the postponement of the next three games, North Carolina (Jan 3), at Louisville (Jan. 7) and Clemson (Jan. 10).
