PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt senior defensive end Rashad Weaver put his name in elite company after being named AFCA first team All-American.
Weaver becomes the 52 player in Pitt history named first team on three different All-American lists, thus becomes a Consensus All-American. Kick returner Quadree Henderson was the last Pitt player to earn this honor in 2016. Aaron Donald was the last unanimous winner in 2013.
Six different organizations recognize Weaver on the first team with the Sporting News listing Weaver on the second team.
AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) lists Panthers defensive end Patrick Jones on the second team. Jones was second team on two other lists and the Sporting News recognized Jones as a first teamer.
Both players will participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Alabama on January 30.
