The New Orleans Saints lost for the first time since Week 3 on Sunday against the Eagles, but another streak also came to an end.

For the first time in 55 games – spanning three years and 24 days – the Saints defense allowed 100 rushing yards to an opposing player. But this was no ordinary way to break the streak.

Two Eagles players each rushed for more than 100 yards in Sunday’s 24-21 loss.

Running back Miles Sanders picked up 115 yards on 14 carries, which was highlighted with an 82-yard touchdown run in the second quarter which put the Eagles up 17-0.

But Jalen Hurts, the rookie quarterback making his first NFL start, rushed for 106 yards on 18 carries as the Eagles totaled 246 yards on the ground.

The last time any player accomplished that was Samaje Perine, when he rushed for 117 yards on 23 carries for the Washington Football Team in a game the Saints won on Nov. 19, 2017.

The Saints’ loss now tightens things up for the fight for the No. 1 seed. New Orleains clinched a playoff spot last week but they are now tied with the Green Bay Packers at 10-3. The Packers actually hold the head-to-head edge with their win over the Saints in Week 3 – the last time the team lost before Sunday.
