The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that linebacker Andre Smith has re-signed with the team to a two-year contract. Smith was set to become a restricted free agent when the new league year opened on Wednesday, March 17.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report the signing Saturday afternoon, and says that Smith will earn up to $3 million with his new deal.
The 23-year-old linebacker was acquired by the Bills before the start of the 2020 season from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
In 12 games played this season for the Bills, Smith primarily contributed on special teams, but still managed to register nine total tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
Smith was a seventh round selection (234th overall) of the Panthers in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of North Carolina.
