LOOK: Stefon Diggs honors late Michael K. Williams with 'The Wire'-themed cleats

Diggs paid tribute to the actor who died this past Monday at the age of 54

Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs paid tribute to the late Michael Kenneth Williams prior to Sunday’s Week 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Diggs, who led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards last season, wore “The Wire”-themed cleats with a famous line from Williams’ character on the famed HBO show, which read “A man must have a code.”

Little, whose character robbed drug dealers in the show that centers around Baltimore, uttered the line when accused of a murder he did not commit.

In addition to Williams’ Omar Little, the cleats included other characters from the show.

Diggs is no stranger to rocking TV and movie-themed cleats. He wore SpongeBob-themed cleats on a few occasions while with the Minnesota Vikings, and last year had cleats from the “Chapelle’s Show” skit of Dave Chapelle playing Rick James.

The 27-year-old finished as Buffalo's leading receiver on Sunday with 69 yards receiving on nine catches. However, the Bills dropped their season opener, 23-16 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
