Emmanuel Sanders has caught passes from Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees throughout his long NFL career. It takes a lot for him to be impressed, and it takes even more for him to see something that he's never seen before. Heck, the dude played 17 games in a regular season before the 17-game season was ever even announced.
But in one of the first sessions of Bills training camp, Emmanuel Sanders did indeed see something that he claims he'd never seen before. He was indeed really impressed. And his jaw did indeed drop to the floor as he witnessed it.
Note: with all that hype, you might think the video is going to be something like Josh Allen uncorking, I don't know, a 100-yard pass. It's not that. On the surface, the video is a little disappointing or underwhelming, but we'll provide additional context to let you in on just how special the throw was. Without further ado:
Like I said, that angle doesn't really do it justice. So let's go to Audacy Buffalo affiliate WGR insider Sal Capaccio for more context. He says that the throw came toward his and other media members' direction, causing them to turn to each other and exclaim at just how crazy it was. After what the Buffalo media saw from Allen last season, it's tough to get that excited unless it's a truly extraordinary throw. And this one was — Capaccio says to compare it to the play in which Allen found Gabriel Davis against the 49ers, but "deeper and over two defenders instead of one." That play:
That's a pretty good toss then, huh?
It seems like Sanders has gotten what he wanted out of his decision to sign with Buffalo, and it goes beyond watching Allen do what few other quarterbacks, if any, are able to do.
