The J.J. Watt free agency saga is over and it ends with a surprise winner: the Arizona Cardinals.
The 31-year-old pass rusher posted on Twitter Monday a photo of himself working out in Cardinals gear as he will join forces with Chandler Jones in what ought to be one of the most dangerous defenses in the NFL next season.
Watt’s free agency has sparked all sorts of speculation, with a fake Peloton account causing a stir early Monday morning prior to Watt’s announcement.
The social media hysteria over Watt’s free agency continued with his announcement, leaving many fans shocked as nobody really gave the Cardinals serious thought as a possible landing spot.
Naturally, most of the reaction was a continued roast of the Houston Texans, who traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals last year. Now, Watt and Hopkins are reunited while things remain messy in Houston with Deshaun Watson hoping to be the next out of town.
Some even began speculating, some may have been jokingly, of a potential Kyler Murray-for-Deshaun Watson trade packages.
Others started looking at the domino effect, pointing out that Russell Wilson may want to request a trade now that Watt is joining a division where he has to also escape Chandler Jones, Nick Bosa and Aaron Donald.
