The trade up for DeVonta Smith already paying dividends for the Birds.
Smith, who was selected No. 10 overall after the Eagles traded up on Draft Day, didn’t wait long to get on the board in the NFL – his first NFL reception was an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts on the Birds’ first drive of the day:
Smith and Hurts spent two seasons together at Alabama and hooked up a few times on TD passes, and Birds fans hope this is the first of many in the NFL. Smith, of course, comes in with big hype, having won the Heisman Trophy after notching 117 catches for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns last season.
