Rochester stays in AHL North Division

The Amerks will play a 76-game schedule in the 2021-22 season

(WGR 550) – The American Hockey League has announced its divisions for the 2021-22 season.

The Rochester Americans will be back in the North Division with the Belleville Senators, Cleveland Monsters, Laval Rocket, Syracuse Crunch, Toronto Marlies and Utica Comets.

The Comets are no longer affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks, as the New Jersey Devils have taken over in Utica.

The teams will play a 72-game regular season in 2022-23. For this coming season, teams in the Atlantic, North and Central Divisions will have the option of playing either 72 or 76 games. The Pacific Division will play 68 games.

The Amerks have elected to play 76 games this upcoming season.

More teams will qualify for the Calder Cup playoffs, but the AHL hasn’t released the specifics yet.
