Sabres to open 2021-22 season on Oct. 14 vs. Montreal

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The NHL released its 2021-22 regular season schedule on Thursday. The Buffalo Sabres will open their season at home on Thursday, Oct. 14 against the Montreal Canadiens.

Buffalo will open the season with a four-game homestand, starting with the Canadiens and followed by matchups with the Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. The Sabres will hit the road for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 23 against the New Jersey Devils.

Buffalo’s first game in Seattle against the Kraken will come on Thursday, Nov. 4 as the final game of a four-game west coast road trip.

The Sabres will play a New Year’s Day game this season in Boston this season on Saturday, Jan. 1.

If the Olympic break happens, the Sabres will have just three games in the month of February, all on the road. They’ll play the Philadelphia Flyers at home on Saturday, Jan. 22 and won’t play in Buffalo again until Friday, March 4 against the Minnesota Wild.

There is an Olympic Break included, but the league still hasn’t committed its players to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. That break is set for Monday, Feb. 7 through Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The Sabres play all through the month of April with 16 games on the schedule. The final game of the season is set for Friday, April 29 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs make their return to Buffalo on Saturday, Nov. 13, but the Sabres don’t play in Toronto until Wednesday, March 2.

If you’d like to see the Kraken in town, they’ll be in Buffalo on Monday, Nov. 29.
